Madrid, where the streets curve from side to side and I’m left with pastel buildings that carry to the skies. I still get lost with word as they continue to dance around my ears. My eyes glistening as I find my way around streets that were once unknown. I find myself still exploring the world I have created for myself and my life that is undefined.

You have started the TIE Renewal paperwork and you are familiar with the timeline, but now you are wondering how to get back into Spain if you choose to travel or go home for the summer or even for the Holiday season. Check out below how to LEGALLY travel outside of of Spain and to ensure your rights of returning to Spain.
![]() So you are moving to Madrid! You found your school placement and you are itching to make your way to your new home. There is plenty to do between now and your arrival but one thing that you cannot stop thinking about is where you are going to live. Your probably scratching your head wondering how you are going to arrive to a new country and find a place to live. Maybe yours Spanish is not as strong as you would like. Or you have no idea about how to go about starting the process. I also thought these things when I first arrived and have this post in mind to help answer some questions and give you a foundation to be successful. It is that time of year where you are looking to renew your TIE and perhaps solicit and obtain a Regreso. Thankfully, the process is easier than you think. It requires some organization, copies of documents, payment of tasas, and some paperwork that only your school can supply you at the end of the school year, Follow the steps below to complete the TIE RENEWAL and check back in the coming days for a new post regarding the Autorización de regreso. I think I have found the time in my madness to finally stop and make a formal "hello" post that has been long overdue. Time is lost if it is not used correctly; here is my opportunity to make more use of my time and make it meaningful. I am overwhelmed with thoughts and words that I would like to say and share with others about my time here in Spain. My time in Madrid has been a beautiful nightmare full of every emotion possible and filled with unique moments and people that I will never forget. My goal of this post is for it to become my gateway to share additional thoughts and feelings further down the line.
![]() Now that you are arriving in Madrid you need to consider how you are going to travel around the city and the outskirts of town. Chances are you don't have a car and have no means of getting one. Packing your bike from the states probably wasn't an option either. Now what do you do? Are you forced to walk from one end of the center to the other? Luckily you have found yourself in Madrid, where the public transportation is reliable and cheap. I got 99 problems and packing my bag is one! Well it was, but hey two years of doing this I've learned to ditch the extras and add more of the basics.
So yeah we are a couple weeks out from moving our entire life to another country with somehow limiting ourselves to a carry one, maybe a small checked bag, and a 50 pound suitcase....48 pounds now since I'm taking a 2 pound jar of Chunky Peanut Butter. |
