![]() Time is ticking slowly, but quickly. As I prep myself to leave Madrid for the summer to make my way back to the states; I thought I'd share my thoughts with prepping for the summer to find success in the fall. Here are a few things to note now and to keep in mind as you prep for your travels. This is an exciting and high anxiety time for all. But I hope I can help with some preparation and assurance. The Community of Madrid has implemented Bilingual Education into a majority of its school locations that has aided students to become well rounded learners in not only one language but in multiple. My school is located in the City center of Madrid with a demographic of students of lower middle class. Grades pre-k to 5th Grade are considered to be Bilingual with full implementation of the school to be fully Bilingual by 2018.
Check out my travel items that I have bought from a few websites like Amazon to help aide in my travels and life in Spain. I would seriously be lost if it I didn't have these items at my disposal.
Here is a Crash Course in Madrid's and most of Europes clothing stance..... Keeping the basics strong. A companion post to Finding and Renting a flat in Madrid.
If you are looking for a flat chances are you have a headache already and you feel helpless. It is part of the journey that you must live through as you travel abroad to a new country. There are horror stories of others who felt as if they failed with finding a home. I am here to tell you that it is possible, but you must be persistent and have a glass of wine in hand to make it happen. The Auxiliar program has been in use with the Community of Madrid for several years. Upon this year Auxiliares were able to work for their school and placement for a maximum of 2 years. Through success of the program the Ministry has granted an additional year for the max of 3 years. In order to be part of this program for the 3rd and final year in the Community of Madrid it was necessary to complete a course in which you had to familiarize yourself with the Auxiliar Program and its purpose.
The Final Project consisted of completing the MOOC Course and making an online platform that showcased what you learned and executed as an Auxiliar de Conversacion. Check out my final platform and what was expected as someone in my position. Included are sample lessons and projects that I completed with my students. Exploring Northern Spain has evoked my senses with an abundance of appreciation for this beautiful country. My nose full of sweet aromas of wine emitting from oak barrels in Logroño. My eyes refocusing and gazing at steel, concrete works of art with the Guggenheim in Bilbao. My skin damp with ocean sea waters of coastal beaches in Gijón. My tongue and palette full of rich, savory flavors of Asturias. My ears are filled with new words and laughter from friends.
As I continue to experience my home away from home I find myself with a deep admiration of what life can be if you chose to stop and let your senses take control. Oh, you know, roughly 10,000 people dressed up as Santa Clauses running around Madrid for Multiple Sclerosis. #FelizNavidad #PapaNoelRace |
